A Zimmy Project
Stamping on Leather Tennis Shoes
You’ll Need:
- a pair of leather tennis shoes
(inexpensive ones work fine!)
- Sealife Zimlets
- ZimInk - several bright colors
- ZimInker raised foam pads
- ZimInk Cleaner/Conditioner
- toothpicks
- Prepare your ZimInk pads several hours or the day before you want to stamp. When you
stamp, you want the ink to be “tacky” so your stamp won’t slip on the leather. (See complete
directions in the ZImInk Instruction section in this Website.)
- Remove the shoestrings from the tennis shoes. Put one hand inside one of the shoes.
When you stamp each image, manipulate your hand inside the shoe to make a hard surface
on which to stamp. Carefully stamp the images, looking to be sure an image completely
touches the leather.
- If your stamp slips a little, you can either use a toothpick to touch-up, or you can carefully
remove the ink with ZimInk Cleaner/Conditioner.
- Add little embellishments like dots or swirls easily with a toothpick or a tiny paintbrush.
- Allow your fabulous footware creation to dry overnight.
You can add colored shoestrings or multicolored shoestring beads to complete your Zimmy
shoes!
